Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planner
UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking an experienced Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planner for a hybrid role with 3-days in office. The resource will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity plans that span multiple systems and organizational functions. The role requires collaboration with executives, management, and subject matter experts to ensure comprehensive strategies are in place for risk assessments, business impact analyses, recovery procedures, and continuity planning. The planner will also coordinate and lead mock disaster exercises, test recovery strategies, and oversee ongoing updates to ensure organizational readiness for unexpected disruptions.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.
BA or BS in a relevant field such as Business Continuity Management, Disaster Recovery, Information Technology, or Risk Management.
Minimum 5+ years of proven experience in developing and implementing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans across multiple industries.
Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE) preferred.
Strong experience in conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and continuity exercises.
Experience developing disaster recovery plans for physical locations with critical assets such as data centers.
Ability to develop contingency plans for organizational emergencies and continuity of operations.
Hands-on experience testing and validating documented disaster recovery strategies and plans.
Ability to analyze impact and risks to business functions or information systems to determine acceptable recovery periods and resource requirements.
Skilled in creating and maintaining emergency management plans for recovery decision making, communications, and governance.
Experience reviewing and enhancing existing disaster recovery, crisis management, or business continuity plans.
Ability to establish, maintain, and test communication trees during disaster scenarios.
Experience leading contingency plan integration and operations.
Strong reporting skills to document testing activities, results, and recommendations.
Capability to create and manage business continuity and disaster recovery budgets.
Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud services.
Strong understanding of data backup and recovery technologies.
Proficiency with risk management software and tools.
Ability to facilitate and participate in Business Impact Analyses, Risk Assessments, mock exercises, and IT recovery exercises.
Experience developing or executing business continuity plans, IT recovery plans, business continuity policies, and crisis management plans.
Strong communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Ability to produce clear, comprehensive documentation for BCDR plans and procedures.
Capacity to deliver training and awareness programs to improve staff readiness.
Strong analytical skills to assess risks and vulnerabilities.
Ability to evaluate and prioritize critical business functions and resources.
Situational awareness, adaptability, and abstract thinking to manage crises effectively.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planner will:
Work with business and IT organizations to develop and refine continuity strategies.
Provide expert advice, risk assessments, and solutions to ensure organizational preparedness for disruptions.
Develop emergency management plans for recovery decision-making, continuity of operations, or temporary shut-down of non-critical processes.
Design and maintain disaster recovery plans for physical locations and critical assets, including data centers.
Test and validate documented disaster recovery strategies and plans.
Coordinate continuity efforts during disruption events and act as the primary point of contact.
Plan, conduct, and debrief mock-disaster exercises to ensure adequacy of plans.
Regularly update business continuity and disaster recovery documentation.
Ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
