GIS Specialist
UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a GIS Specialist with at least 6 years of related experience for a remote role to support the modernization of the NYS GIS content and hosting platform. Candidates must reside in the EST zone, candidates with active LinkedIn profile preferred. The specialist will be responsible for automating workflow processes, scripting new procedures, and testing GIS web services to ensure reliable data integration and performance.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Math, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience (an equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered).
6–10 years’ experience in configuring and working with databases, including developing functions and queries.
Experience developing, testing, and deploying GIS software and GIS datasets.
Hands-on experience developing scripts and/or object-oriented programming (Python preferred).
Experience running GIS data extract, transform, load (ETL) workflows manually and through scheduled automation, including triggers, actions, indicators, notifications, and logging.
Skilled in testing and troubleshooting technical issues with GIS database scripts, tools, and/or workflows.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Configure and work with databases, developing functions and queries to support GIS applications.
Develop, test, and deploy GIS software and GIS datasets.
Create scripts and/or object-oriented programming solutions (Python preferred) to support automation.
Run GIS data ETL workflows manually and through scheduled automation, including triggers, actions, indicators, notifications, and logging.
Test and troubleshoot technical issues with GIS database scripts, tools, and workflows.
