IT Business Analyst / Systems Analyst
UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst / Systems Analyst for an onsite role in New York, NY to support large-scale, mission-critical workflow applications within a Project Management Office (PMO) environment. Active LinkedIn preferred. This role focuses on eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and validating functional and non-functional requirements for complex systems that support asset lifecycle tracking, inspections, permitting, maintenance, and operational workflows. The consultant will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure solutions align with organizational needs, data standards, and system architectures.

MANDATORY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Note: Candidates who do not meet the mandatory requirements will not be considered.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in application software analysis and development environments
• Hands-on experience with requirements gathering, data analysis, data structures, data manipulation, databases, programming, testing, and implementation
• Experience producing technical documentation and end-user documentation
• Background supporting or leading software conversions and system implementations
• Experience working across multiple environments including mainframe, mid-range systems, personal computers, and laptops
• Ability to assist and/or lead the design of program specifications and implementation of software solutions
Additional Preferred Experience (Included Under Mandatory Consideration):
• BA/BS degree or equivalent in business, communications, or a technology-related field
• 6+ years of experience specifying, analyzing, and documenting requirements for mission-critical web and client/server applications
• Strong understanding of application development methodologies, tools, and environments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with Waterfall, RUP, and Agile SDLC methodologies
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to facilitate discussions, drive consensus, and work with diverse stakeholder groups
• Ability to estimate levels of effort and support delivery commitments
SCOPE OF SERVICES
• Identify and document functional and non-functional requirements using industry-standard analysis techniques (data flow modeling, workflow analysis, functional decomposition)
• Prepare, review, and update requirements documentation, business processes, specifications, and solution recommendations
• Collaborate with senior analysts, business units, and subject matter experts to define, test, and implement system requirements
• Conduct requirements elicitation through interviews, workshops, surveys, and review of existing systems and documentation
• Analyze current systems to identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities, aligning solutions with business needs and emerging technologies
• Create and maintain analysis artifacts including process maps, business rules, user stories, workflows, use cases, UI designs, and acceptance criteria
• Analyze information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and distinguish actual business needs from stated requests
• Serve as a liaison between business users, technology teams, developers, and support teams
• Support rollout strategies by understanding organizational structure, business challenges, and data requirements
• Define standards for acceptance testing, develop test plans, test conditions, and test matrices
• Track and resolve issues, coordinate and execute acceptance testing
• Work independently with stakeholders under the guidance of project and relationship managers
• Communicate clearly and professionally through written correspondence and stakeholder interactions
• Apply feedback appropriately and adhere to established project standards
